Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the unitized oil seal for trailer hubs. Now this seal is used in 8,000 pound Dexter oil bath axle, a unitized seal is a actually a dual action seal. Basically what happens is when this is installed, the inner portion will stay fixed on the spindle and the outer casing will rotate with the hub. This type of seal has less wear and tear, provides better leak protection. And again, this seal is used on mainly oil bath hubs.A few dimensions on this, the overall diameter, or outer diameter on this seal is 3.376 inches. How to remove the seal. How to remove the race's if they're damaged, then get them replaced in the proper manner. Unitized Oil Seal Review- Video
Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Unitized Oil Seal, part number 10-51. Whenever you're doing maintenance on your trailer, perhaps doing your brakes, it's always a good idea to check your bearings and seals. Now where our Unitized seal is going to differ from a lot of different seals is this center section that's going to sit on the spindle, is actually going to stay fixed onto the spindle while the outer section is going to rotate with the hub.And because of the design, it's going to take a lot less wear and tear and provide a lot better leak protection for your oil bath hubs. So now that we know how our seal works, let's show you how to get it installed. And as you can see this one's been leaking pretty good, so we're going to go ahead and replace it.Easiest way to get it out is just take flathead screwdriver, and you come underneath, and just gently pry up on it. And just get it a little bit worked up, so working your way around, and you get the rest of the seal out. more

It is designed to fit 6,000 pound and 7,000 pound Dexter axles with oil bath hub and drums. The outer diameter of this cap is measured 2.563 inches. The kit does come with the oil cap itself, comes with the rubber plug that you take this off to fill with oil and put it back on to seal it, and it comes, as you can see here, with the rubber O-ring on it to help seal it when you screw it in to the hub assembly. more

Now this kit includes the oil cap, a gasket to use when you install it onto the hub, and this rubber plug right in the middle here that's used to pop off, put your oil into the hub, and then when you get it all filled you just put your plug right back in and that will help seal it. Now this unscrews from the body. The cap is a nice clear blue carbonate, polycarbonate cap that you can see in the level of the oil, has a nice rubber oil plug in the middle here. There's a rubber O-ring on the threads. The aluminum body is a nice lightweight aluminum construction; has the threads in it. You just thread that in there, and once you get it threaded down there you just snug it up. more

Today we're going to take a look a the trailer bearing for 10,000 pound axles. Now this replacement bearing is a high quality tapered roller bearing. It's designed for high speed use. Now most bearings use industry standard numbers. This one the number would be right on the inner ring here, and you can see it's the J205149 and it is designed to fit 10,000 pound axles. On a bearing the critical measurement is the inner diameter which is measured inside to inside right here and the measurements are always in thousandths of an inch, so we do recommend you use a digital caliper just to get the correct readers. more

Today we're going to take a look at the trailer bearing for 10 thousand pound axles. This replacement bearing is a high quality tapered roller bearing, designed for high speed use. Most bearings will use industry standard numbers. This one will have it right on the inner ring here, stamped on here. This one is a part number JM511946 and this is designed to fit a 10 thousand pound axle. Now, the critical measurement on a bearing is the inner diameter. On this one, all the bearings will be measured in thousandths of an inch, so it is critical to use a digital read-out caliper to get you the correct reading. more

Today we're going to take a look at the trailer bearing for 3000 pound axles. Now, this replacement bearing is a high quality tapered roller bearing designed for high speed use. Now, most bearings use industry standard numbers. They're usually stamped on the inner ring of the bearing. On this one, if you can see real lightly, it says LM29749 and this is designed to fit 3000 pound axles. One the bearings the critical measurement is the inner diameter of the bearing and that's usually listed in thousandths of an inch, so we do require usually a digital caliper to get a correct reading. Just to give you an idea, we happen to have one here, and if we do an internal measurement it's going to be right at 1.5 inches. more

Today we're going to take a look at the trailer bearing for 5200 pound to 7000 pound axles. This replacement bearing is a high quality tapered roller bearing designed for high speed use. Most bearings use industry-standard numbers. This one, the number is stamped on the inner ring and it's right here. You can see, it's JLM506849 and again this is designed to fit 5200 pound to 7000 pound axles. Now, on a bearing the critical measurement is the inner diameter which is the measurement of the inside part. To measure that, it's actually measured in thousandths of an inch so it doesn't require a digital caliper to get a correct reading. more

Most bearings use an industry standard number. This one, which the number is usually stamped on the inner ring, this one would be 395s and it's designed again to fit 10,000 pound axles. Now on a bearing the critical measurement is the inner diameter of the bearing, and the measurement is usually in thousands of an inch. To actually measure it it does require a digital caliper. I happen to have one here, and just to show you if we do an internal measurement on it we can see that it is right at 2.625 inches for the inner diameter. more

This is designed to fit the 5,200 pound to 7,000 pound axles. Now on a bearing the critical measurement on the bearing is in the inner diameter. On this one we're going to measure it. more

Today, we're going to take a look at the bearing kit for 5,200 pound axles. This kit includes everything shown here on the table. It includes the inner bearing and the race, includes the outer bearing and the race, includes the double lip grease seal, and a cotter pin. Now, the bearings they use in this kit is a high quality tapered roller bearing designed for high speed use. The grease seal is a double lip grease seal, which will retain the grease inside the hub better and will give you better protection against moisture and road grind than your single lip seals. Now, I want to go over the part numbers and the measurements on these, just to note so you'll know what you're getting. more

TruRyde Bearing Kit for #84 Spindle Installation- Video
Today we're going to take a look at and we're also going to show you how to install the TruRyde Bearing Kit for the number 84 spindle. The part number is BK2-100. As far as replacing this, what this is essentially going to do is it's going to rebuild our hub. Rather than having to go out and buy a new hub, we're going t be able to remove old races, take out our old bearings, our old seal, and put in the new stuff that's going to provide us with an excellent essentially full bearing mount. That's going to allow our trailer to move very freely down the road. We'll of course pack these with grease and just keep this nice and low temp. more
